A pair of bureaucratese-style terms crossed my screen a few weeks ago:
- "data spill", meaning an inadvertent leakage of private/personal information (cf. [1])
- "bonds of affection", referring to family ties, perhaps, or other connections that go beyond mere friendship
It occurred to me that they could be cross-bred to yield two new relationship descriptions:
- Bonds of data
- people held together by their shared information
- Affection spill
- misplaced emotional ties, as in Robert Browning's poem My Last Duchess
(Hmmm!—I wonder if other such jargon phrases could be hybridized to yield useful or humorous results?) - ^z - 2009-09-12
